Stay tuned...

Last week, Lindsay came down to visit us. She brought good news from home, american delicacies that can't be found here (ie goldfish) and lots of stories to catch up on. Stay tuned because I'll be sharing our adventures in the next few days.

Along with snacks and stories she also brought a new charger for my computer so I am back up and running! Hopefully getting back to more regular blogposts again! Thanks for your patience while we had the lack of updates- I'll try and get you caught up on all that we've been up to. Stay Posted!

CHI-CHI-LE-LE! VIVA CHILE!

On Tuesday, I joined Henry and some of his ArchDaily crowd for the Chile vs. Paraguay World Cup Qualifier game.

The track and outside portion of the field didn't make for the most aesthetically pleasing stadium but the backdrop of the Andes was awesome.

We learned some of the traditional chants and rants (most of which are a bit too inappropriate to post) but the most common one goes something like this (sung to a catchy tune):
"Vamos! Vamos Chilenos! Esta noche tenemos que ganar!!!"
Which translates to:
Let's Go! Let's Go Chileans! Tonight we have to win!

Chile won 2-0! YAY!
CHI-CHI-LE-LE! VIVA CHILE!!!

Home. Is there any better place?

In mid-September I flew back home for the wedding of an incredible couple who happen to be two of our awesomest friends. It was an incredibly beautiful ceremony, with a gorgeous bride and one heck of a dance party at the reception. I was so honored to be part of the celebration.

Congrats Rob and Ness!!! Your wedding was beyond SPECKtacular!

Along with being home for the wedding I got to enjoy two of my three favorite things - Family/Friend gatherings and the dogs, Basil and Rocky. (+ good food)

We made one of my all time favorites - pizzas on the grill!

How many utensils do you need to open a bottle of pisco? Apparently at least three.

Turns out after flipping through my pictures I actually have none of hanging out with family. But we had so much fun. I guess we were too into catching up on stories and enjoying pisco to stop to snap a photo.

We also got in lots of time at the park.

It was an incredible trip home but as much as I loved it, it didn't feel complete in it's entirety. I felt so cozy in my house, with comfort food, sitting by the fire but I wasn't experiencing it with the one I love the most.

Santiago is only our temporary locale but no matter where I go, home is when I'm with him.

From bud to bloom...

We are so thrilled to finally begin to see the signs of spring!
So long winter!!!

On day just the buds.... the next full blossoms!

It's so nice seeing the magnolias, flowering quince, daffodils, paper whites and more bringing spring along with them...

And then there's this pup. She's sitting in this chair almost every morning outside of her house waiting for the sun to shine over the wall to warm her up. We say hola every morning on my walk to work. I think she's ready for spring too.

Happiness...utter happiness

I love his drive for life. I love that he is always learning and will never stop. I love his curly hair. I love that he is never afraid to fail. I love his sense of humor and his sarcasm. I love that he’s not afraid to make a fool of himself. I love that he loves Mexican food. I love his crazy eyebrows. I love that he is always willing to help others. I love that he married me for who I am.  I love that he makes me breakfast in bed. I love that he is always thinking. I love that he inspires me. I love that we are on this adventure together. I love that I get to spend the rest of my life with him. I love that he is my husband.

A Picnic Downtown

Last weekend Henry and I made a picnic lunch and headed to downtown Santiago. Our destination: Cerro Santa Lucía.

This hill was conquered by Pedro de Valdivia in December of 1541 where it served as the lookout point during the conquista. In 1820 Fort Hidalgo was built as a defense for the city.

A little more than 50 years later Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna, in an aim to improve the city, remodled Santa Lucía Hill by adding a road, the park, fountains and an elaborate entrance.  Located in the middle of downtown it offers a slight escape for visitors from the busy streets.

We enjoyed camembert and crackers.

As well as cucumber sandwiches.
